Statement by the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis
"The launch of the National Electronic Health Record (NEHR) marks a historic moment for the digital transformation of public healthcare in Greece. It is the culmination of an important project implemented with consistency and vision by the Ministry of Health, IDIKA, and the Ministry of Digital Governance. The NEHR fundamentally transforms the way medical information is transferred and utilized by healthcare professionals, ensuring immediate and secure access to critical data—both in routine appointments and emergency cases.
Citizens now have access to and control over the care they receive, while the State gains a clear, functional picture of the country’s health landscape. Our goal is to lead healthcare in Greece into a new digital era—with transparency, accessibility, and a humancentered approach."
Statement by the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou
"The National Electronic Health Record introduces a major shift in the healthcare sector, offering significant support to both citizens and doctors. Easily and simply, anytime and anywhere, citizens—through the MyHealth App—will have access to the entirety of their health information.
This is a landmark reform that not only improves citizens’ experience but also reduces bureaucracy, as there is no longer a need to carry printed examination results. Doctors likewise have comprehensive knowledge of their patients’ medical history, enabling them to provide the best possible personalized care.
We are also utilizing Artificial Intelligence, through Digital Assistants, which provide tailored responses to both citizens and doctors. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and through our agency, IDIKA, we are advancing a series of digital initiatives that upgrade the healthcare system and make daily life easier for both citizens and healthcare professionals."
